Cold Weather

So where I live, it has been rather cold out, even for this time of the year.  Especially since for the past couple years it has actually been too warm for our area.  Due to this however, I got into a discussion with some of my colleagues regarding windchill temperatures and frostbite.  Some don't mind the cold, however a problem arises when it is cold enough to potentially cause frostbite.  At the current conditions where I am, in the middle of the day the windchill dropped the temperature to about -27F or -33C, which is cold enough to cause frostbite in 10-30 minutes.

At my school we play a game similar to hockey and players are often exposed to the elements for this amount of time or longer.  The school is usually good about keeping the safety of the students in mind, however the students aren't always as good.

If you are planning on going outside you should definitely consider covering up with extra layers and staying inside or in cover from the wind where possible.  The Weather Channel has a good source of the symptoms of frostbite and hypothermia.
